How Size Affects Print Area and Branding

A bigger scarf means more real estate for your design — but artwork needs to be composed differently at each scale:

Logo placement: On small squares and bandanas, place the logo at the centre or one corner. On oblong scarves, repeat the pattern along the length or place it at one end so it remains visible when worn.

Full-bleed designs: Edge-to-edge prints work best on 90 × 90 cm and above. Sublimation printing is ideal as it transfers ink right to the fabric edges.

Text and fine details: Keep text elements large and readable — minimum 8mm letter height for screen printing on smaller scarves.

Brand integration: For detailed guidance on effective logo placement techniques, see our article on incorporating logos and branding into printed shawls.

Size and Fabric — How They Work Together

The size you choose should also consider the fabric. A 180 × 90 cm shawl in heavy cotton feels very different from the same dimensions in lightweight chiffon. For a detailed fabric comparison, see our scarf fabric guide.

Fabric Best Sizes Notes
Polyester satin Any size Holds shape, drapes nicely, best for sublimation
Chiffon 90 × 90 cm and above Light and floaty — too small feels flimsy
Silk Any size — most popular at 90 × 90 Premium choice for executive gifts
Cotton / viscose Bandana, oblong Comfortable but can wrinkle
Modal Oblong, shawl Soft, breathable, great for daily wear

Still Unsure? Three Questions to Decide

1
How will it be worn? Neck only → oblong or small square. Shoulders → shawl. Accessory → twilly.
2
What is the occasion? Formal or premium → 90 × 90 cm and above. Casual or mass → bandana or twilly.
3
What is the budget per piece? Smaller sizes cost less per unit due to lower fabric usage. See our bulk ordering guide for pricing tiers.
